Water heater is a short, 40 gallon, chimney vent, natural gas. 2 techs needed due to stairs. 12/9/22: SA/CC Arrived on site to replace water heater and expansion tank. Upon arrival we drained water from whole house due to location of existing expansion tank. We removed existing water heater and replaced with new heater. We adapted flue pipe, adapted copper lines and gas line. Pro pressed all copper lines for water heater and expansion tank. Refilled system back up with water, lit pilot and watched system start. We also serviced humidifier, checked if condensate pump worked properly, changed #35 filter for humidifier. Both systems is working properly at this time.

Upon arrival exhaust flow was good. After checking a few things I discovered the periscope style duct was partially clogged due to high usage. I recleaned and attached the pipe and exhaust flow is better. Customer will replace the flat mount duct with an actual flex hose.

Customer called due to gas furnace not working within the home. This home is up for sale and somebody is in the process to be buying it. Found pilot lit but no action. Adjusted the thermostat and got it to turn over. Shortly after getting it to run enough to test I found multiple issues that are not fixable due to the age of the unit and inaccessible parts. I found the blower motor wouldn’t turn over and the gas valve was shorting out during the short heat cycle. At this time there’s nothing chud can do to get the unit functioning properly as well as safely. We recommend replacing the unit as the as the only safe and viable option to get the home heating again. I tired all possibilities to get it running in a safe manor but 2 major components are not operation and due to system age are next to impossible to find. Per RC we are waiving the service fee and at this time only willing to present a replacement estimate. I will forward the information to one of our advisors to follow up with
